It keeps Getting Better

After my last post something wonderful happened. I was driving my daughter home from school and she said, "Dad can we do that again?" "Do what again?", I said. "Help those people." I said, "What people?" "That place we were this weekend." I kinda smiled and thought to myself, 'This is pretty cool, my daughter did learn a valuable lesson.' I looked at her and said, "Yes." I did help at Banquet because of a desire inside myself, but I also did it for my daughters sake. I wanted to show her and have her experience what it is like to have nothing and need someone else's help. Mission accomplished.

Whether a teacher or a parent, we as adults are always "planting seeds" (ideas, characteristics, etc) in the minds of children. You were able to see within your daughter, Kaylee, that the "seed" took hold and she will be willing to help others throughout her life. That is a blessing. Teachers often do not get to see the young children they teach grow up to be adults. Good teachers like we have at CES are willing to be a guide, a mentor, a good role model without the benefit of knowing that the "seeds" they plant will take hold in the minds of our young people. Our teachers keep at it anyway, knowing they may never know how they affected another's life. Take heart, teachers, someone does know. You could be guiding someone right now that will find a cure for cancer. Awesome!
